Farah, 10, and Hana, 8, are two sisters suffering from Marfan syndrome, a genetic disease. Unfortunately, their father also had the same syndrome and died at a young age due to heart problems, as he was unable to undergo heart surgery in time. The two girls suffer from severe mitral valve regurgitation, which causes them constant fatigue and shortness of breath. Doctors recommended open heart surgery to replace the mitral valve with a metal valve. However, the mother was hesitant about the surgery, due to concerns about the effects of a metal valve, such as the need for blood thinners and possible complications in the future. The mother looked for alternatives, until a doctor recommended that she go to Al-Nas Hospital, due to their experience in repairing valves instead of replacing them. The doctors explained to her that repairing the valve would enable the two girls to live a normal life without the need for permanent medications or future problems. The two girls were admitted to Al-Nas Hospital, where all the necessary tests were performed. A surgical team led by Dr. Jihad Muhammad Mustafa, a cardiac surgery consultant, repaired the mitral valve of Farah, the eldest sister. After the mother was reassured of the success of the operation, the same surgery was performed on Hana, the younger sister, three months later. Thanks to God, the two girls are now living a normal life and enjoying good health. Valve repair ensures the preservation of the natural tissue of the valve, allowing the patient to continue his life as if he had a completely normal valve.
